5k race from the Albion pub, Whitworth road, cracking race this evening, starting off on road, 2 decent climbs, then onto trail and 2 laps of the reservoir, back onto the trail and back down the hill. A little bit of everything and a great evening run, one to do.

- Welcome you to our Club Blog. We are a friendly group of Triathletes based around Rochdale in the North West of England. We compete at all levels from novice to Ironman events around the world, at national and international level. Cowm Clash 2011 Launched, 19/06/2011
Rochdale Triathlon Club would like to announce the launch of the Cowm Clash Triathlon 2011 Event Information | |
1.4km swim OW, 42km bike, 9.6km run. The race will be held at Cowm Reservoir which is situated just above the town of Whitworth which is near Rochdale. Whitworth Water-ski Centre is based at Cowm Reservoir, which is accessible from the A671, turning into Tong Lane, then up Tong End and onto Back Cowm Lane, (OL12 8BE) where you will find the reservoir. The reservoir is approximately 800 feet above sea level so it will not be the warmest water in the world so WETSUITS ARE MANDATORY. There is a cafe and there will be access to small changing rooms with three toilets which are situated inside the Whitworth ski centre, but there will be portable loo's outside, The race will start at 8am with 10 waves the fasted swim times will be off first. All the courses will be well signed and marshalled Entry Limit: 125 competitors Race entry is £40.00. On production of a valid BTF card there will be a refund of £3.00 Distances: SWIM – The race will start at 8am with a swim distance of approx 1.4 km. This will take place in a deep water start, with waves of twenty and the fastest swim times will start first. BIKE – The bike course is 42km, it can be described as a sporting course, hilly or undulating course with five major climbs in total. RUN – The run course is 9.2km, with two laps round the Cowm Reservoir and up onto the tops, both laps will use the surrounding paths, grassy trails and tarmac surfaces, which can be seen from the reservoir it self. Rules This event will be held under the rules of the British Triathlon. Your bicycle must be in a mechanically safe condition. An approved cycle helmet must be worn on the cycle section. NO HELMET NO RACE. We will have two referee's and a motor cyclist referee (for draft busting) will be present throughout the race. There will be prizes for the top placings in the categories of male & female, vet male & vet female and super vet male & female and 1 st relay team. Withdrawal Policy – Rochdale Tri Club acknowledge racers will on occasion need to withdraw an entry through injury or other reason. Rochdale Tri will accept written notification of a withdrawal, received by the organiser prior to the closing date. A refund will be made less a £5 administration fee. After the closing date no refund or substitution will be accepted. |
